For beginners or inexperienced quilters. This is a good introduction to both free machine quilting and quilting with a walking foot. It includes some easy to achieve free machine quilting designs, quilting in the ditch, shadow quilting, variations on cross hatching and simple decorative quilting designs using stencils. In this workshop you will learn how to mark your quilt top and sandwich the three layers (top, wadding and backing) together. We will also discuss hoops, threads, needles, thimbles, tension of fabric, etc. Ann will be demonstrating the ‘rocking’ method and show you how to start and finish a thread. You will then start practising on your sample piece. This workshop is the time to ask any questions—big or small—to enable you to fully embrace this age-old craft. |
